We collect only the information needed to operate Omiya and deliver a quality experience. The data we may collect falls into the following categories:

• Account details. When you register, we collect your username, email address, and optionally a profile picture. You can update or add more information later through your settings.
• Content you share. Posts, messages, comments, photos, and videos you upload are stored so they can be shown to you and to the people you choose to share them with.
• Usage data. We record how you interact with Omiya—such as the features you use, the length of your sessions, and the actions you take—to help us understand and improve the experience.
• Device and connection information. Device model, operating system, unique identifiers, IP address, and network details, used for diagnostics, performance monitoring, and security.
• Approximate location. With your permission, we may estimate your general city or country from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS coordinates without your explicit consent.
• Support communications. Records of messages you exchange with our support team, including questions, requests, and feedback.
• Payment information. For paid features, payments are handled by secure third-party providers. We do not store complete payment card numbers.

02How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for clear and legitimate purposes:

• Providing the service. Creating and verifying your account, displaying your profile, and enabling messaging and content sharing.
• Personalising your experience. Suggesting relevant content and connections, and adapting the interface to your preferences.
• Keeping Omiya safe. Detecting spam, abuse, fraud, and violations of our rules by analysing usage patterns.
• Communicating with you. Sending service updates, security alerts, and replies to your support requests. Promotional messages are sent only if you opt in.
• Improving Omiya. Studying trends, fixing bugs, and developing new features based on aggregated, non-identifying insights.
• Meeting legal obligations. Responding to lawful requests from authorities and complying with regulatory requirements.

03When We Share Information

We treat your data as confidential and disclose it only in the following situations:

• With your consent. If you connect a third-party service and authorise sharing, we transmit only what is necessary.

• Encryption. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES).
• Access controls. Only authorised personnel may access user data, and only when necessary for their work.
• Regular reviews. We routinely test our systems for vulnerabilities and perform security assessments.

No online service can be guaranteed completely risk-free. We do not promise absolute security, but we work diligently to reduce risks. If a breach occurs, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

06Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include:

• Access and correction. You can view and update your account information at any time in Settings.
• Data export. You may request a copy of your information in a portable, machine-readable format.
• Account deletion. You may request removal of your data, subject to applicable legal retention requirements.
• Opt out. You can unsubscribe from promotional messages at any time and adjust app permissions in your device settings.
• Restrict or object. In some cases, you may ask us to limit processing or object to certain uses, such as direct marketing.

07Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law.

• Active accounts. Data is retained while your account is active.
• After deletion. We delete or anonymise your data within a reasonable period, except where we are legally required or securely obligated to retain it.
• Backups. Residual copies may remain temporarily in backup systems as part of standard disaster-recovery procedures.

When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

08Children's Privacy

Omiya is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.

• Age restriction. We block registration by individuals under 18 and may use verification measures to enforce this.
• Accidental collection. If we learn that we have received data from a minor, we delete it promptly, typically within 24 hours.
• Parental assistance. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided data to us should contact us immediately.

09Content Moderation and Reporting

Omiya uses a combination of automated filters, automated analysis, and human review to help prevent harmful content from reaching users. We monitor for violations of our community guidelines, including harassment, hate speech, spam, and child safety concerns.

You can report suspicious content or behaviour using the in-app "Report" feature on any profile, post, or message. Our safety team reviews reports promptly and takes action based on severity. Reports related to CSEA receive the highest priority and are investigated as quickly as possible.

10International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and stored on servers located outside your state, province, country, or other jurisdiction, where data protection laws may differ from those where you live.

If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we may transfer your data, including personal information, to the United States and process it there. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure your data is handled securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

11Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through an in-app notification or banner, an email to your registered address, and by updating the effective date shown at the top. Your continued use of Omiya after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy. If you do not agree, you should stop using Omiya and delete your account. We will not reduce your rights without your explicit consent.
